Monday Musings | Independence Day 2014

Is it just me or does this year seem to be flying by? It seems like every time I blink a new month is starting, and June was no different. One minute we were celebrating my birthday and the next we had family visiting for July Fourth!

I had the week off, so I spent some time with Seth’s sweet mama, nephew, and grandma relaxing and enjoying some vacation time. We went up to Wiliamsburg on Tuesday and had lunch at my favorite spot, The Cheese Shop, and spent some time exploring the Jamestown Settlement. It was pretty hot out that day, but the beauty of the area made all that sweating worth it!

Over the weekend we had our fair share of cookouts and family get-togethers. We spent Friday evening at Seth’s brother’s house.

I love the shots I got of Seth’s Papaw 🙂

These two are always goofing around…

After we left, we bought some sparklers and played around with light painting in the backyard. This was the first time we’d tried to do it- I think they turned out ok. Next time we’ll have to work on the ghosting issue!

Saturday evening was spent at my dad’s house. Seth played a little baseball with Zach and his friend…

While Emilie and I had fun doing a little modeling 🙂

After we all ate, the baseball turned into a whiffleball game of boys versus girls. I put the camera down and played, because after all, that’s what this weekend was all about right? The freedom to be present and enjoy life. Even if does mean striking out 20 times 🙂

How did you celebrate the 4th? Did you go see awesome fireworks? Grill out? Hang on the beach? I’d love to hear all about your adventures in the comment box!
